Yes, I recently tried my hand for the first time at stenciling — a bit of “friggy-work” as Mom would call it, but once I got the hang of it, it was fun. And rewarding!
I bought the raw wood trunk at Hobby Lobby for $16.00 — had a coupon for 40% off any one item. Check online — they run specials!
Kelly just loves the trunk, so great to keep Kirsten’s accessories in. (Kirsten is The Doll, for newcomers to this site. Kelly is The Human Child who lives with her father and me.)
The trunk measures 12″ wide x 10″ deep x 10″ tall — perfect size for a six-pack of beer — wouldn’t I be the fancy one all the ball games, toting my beer in that! 🙂
Might stencil another for my donuts!
But back to serious-land… I noticed the “real” American Girl Doll Kirsten trunks were recently selling for an average of $250 each, for those lucky enough to snag them off eBay — they are no longer available from the maker.
Jim (The Father of our Human Child,) says I should paint more of these and sell them on eBay! Maybe next Christmas, if I refine my skills — this was just my first attempt.
I also painted and stenciled a matching table, chairs, bed, and a little shelf for Kirsten for Christmas, which I’ll be showing you in near-future posts. So stay tuned!!
And God bless!!
And yes, all these pictures were taken with my trusty iPhone 3GS. (The yellow stencil sheet is kinda fuzzy because I cropped it considerably.)
Last night I admitted the following on an inspiring blogger’s post…
I AM going to spend 30 minutes a day maximizing my Twitter sphere. I AM going to learn another 7 great songs on guitar. I AM going to up my blog posting to 3x weekly.
And shortly after posting that comment on Keith’s Awesome Post, a few more I AMs hit me for my 2010 goal list…
I AM going to increase the amount of sites that link to mine from the current 276 to at least 500.
I AM going to completely organize all our closets and keep them that way.
I AM going to learn to poach eggs without breaking the yolks.
I AM going to do 222 buttock lifts daily — yes 111 on each side.
I AM going to add the Charleston to my soup aisle dance repertoire.
I AM going to expand my kelp knitting business to include maple syrup collage and spaghettini cowboy sculptures.
I AM! I AM!! I AM!!!
AND… I AM super-recommending Keith’s awesome “It’s Time To Get Real” post. He’s got some really excellent stuff in there.
So, my Friendly Reading Peep, what I AMs are on YOUR “anti-resolution” goal list?
Recently two friends and I totally wowed ’em at a local nursing home.
I hope this tune will pass as my Christmas card to you, I’ve been pretty slack with mailing out real ones so far this year, sorry. Thanks to those of you who sent me cards to my home, I’ll be dropping you a line.
Speaking of mail… I’ve let My Fabulous P.O. Box lapse, yes a shocker — my “super-semi-somebody” P.O. Box now set adrift in the big big world. Please forgive me if you recently sent me something there, I hope it is returned to you and please e-mail me at janniefunster @ gmail dot com so I can give you a probably non-fictitious snail-mail address for me. 🙂
Thanks!
Christmas Time Is Here! Whoo-hoo!!!!!
What’s your favorite Christmas song(s) or carol(s)?

If you want the scoop on that squirrel, you’ll have to scoot over to Jan Lundy’s excellent Awake Is Good blog. I’m hanging out in the trees there today.
Over there I’ll also tell you what happened in our dining room about a half hour after I took this picture of Kelly when she was 6 months old.
Hope to see you soon over at Jan’s excellent oasis of calm, clarity and compassion! Oh — and there is a giveaway over there, whoo-hoo.
