There’s Kelly at age 5 in our backyard in her Snow White wig.
There’s me zooming in on her face in that same picture.
There’s a map of our backyard.
(Except the summer she was 5 we were still a year away from getting her little swimming pool.)
(And her dad would not begin constructing her tree house for another year and a half — built it with his own two hands, he did — top to bottom.)
There’s the swimming pool… I got it for $300, landed. (Assembled it myself! I mentioned I kick ass on occasion, right?)
There’s the tree house, a shot I took about 2 months ago.
There’s that donut hole photo of Austin I took.
Austin, Texas, that is — where we live.
And guess what?!!??
Another Angel of Delight — Lori of the Jane Be Nimble blog garden, has an interview post about me up — a post with all-new Jannie tidbits, and one that beautifully showcases that entire donut (less a couple bites.)
Hope you’ll join us over there on Lori’s front porch?!
With love from your ever humble blogging servant,
Jannie
xoxoxoxo
There was Kelly helping her dad build the treehouse when she was 6. (She’s almost 9 now!)
P.S. If I’m not posting as often as usual this coming week — don’t worry. I’ll be immersed in any combo of the following…
— going into the recording studio on 2 or 3 of my new songs
— launching my big eBay selling blitz
— catching up on reading your blogs
— answering your lovely comments on this post
— finally mopping those floors!
You have just witnessed my Friday Flash Fiction 55 for The G-Man!
(P.S. Above was my simple brunch today.)
(P.P.S. I will return Flash 55 comments as soon as I can — whoo-hoo!!)
(P.P.S. If you missed me singing my 55 About & For The G-Man last week, you can can watch that 1-minute Youtube here.)
He loves the Wolverines
He loves a fishin’ stream
He gets that far away look in his eyes…
Somewhere on a Michigan highway
He rides a Harley-Davidson
His silver mustache flyin’ in the wind
Ridin’ in the mornin’ sun
G-Man’s Tim Horton’s cup
Collidin’ with the very air he breathes
The air he breathes.
Just 55 words I put to a Neil Young melody in honor of our known blogging legend and coffee-loving patron saint of Friday Flash Fiction 55 — the G-Man.
If you are a Flash-55 writer (or play one on t.v.) git on over to the G-man’s lair Friday (or anytime Thursday after 8:00 p.m. MICHIGAN time) to check out the fun. Let the The G-man know you’ve posted a 55 and he’ll pop on over to your place and comment!
2. Cut up 33 paper shopping bags to use as wrapping for books I’ll be mailing eventually.
3. E-Mailed my interview answers to wonderful Lori.
4. Got my Friday 55 all ready for this week — a 55 not only FOR — but ABOUT the G-Man, whoo-hoo! (Oooo, the intrigue.) [Edit, the G-Man posts his 55 on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. MICHIGAN time!]
5. Fed The Child at least a couple, often three times, daily.
6. Had The Child take a bath.
7. Took The Child to the Lake a few times. (We live not far from the park pictured above.)
8. Took The Child back to Kung Fu and Gymnastics, first time since what happened to her arm on May 1st.
9. Worked a few hours at Jim’s office. I shall rejoin him there one or two afternoons a week, as in the Olden Daze. (I actually worked with him full-time before The Child arrived — if you can call zipping out for 3-hour tuna-melt coffee lunches to sit and write songs and poems working fulltime…) (Sleeping with Being married to the boss does have its perks!)
10. Was off Internet for a whole 3 hours in a row. While I was awake!!
11. Finally chucked my duct-taped $1 flipflops in the trash.
12. Followed a bunch of gals on BlogFrog — and many are following back — whoo-hoo! Now what? 🙂
13. Tweeted once. Maybe twice!
14. Sat with metronome and guitar. Think 130 beats per minute is it for “Sail A Child.” (And you thought it would be a draggy tune!) 😉
15. Ran into Ryan at Kalyani’s moving day this past Sunday and he’ll be in the recording studio with me in a couple weeks! Piano on “Sail A Child” would be beautiful, especially Ryan’s piano. That guy is a musical gift to the world!
16. Dabbled a bit more on the third verse of “Sail A Child,” trusting a couple lines even more magical than what I had before will soon unfold like silk scarves waving bye from the deck of a yacht bound from New York ’round the globe.
17. Read and commented on a whole dozen or so blogs!!
18. Answered almost all my comments on my last post. And am looking forward to answering the remaining sweet ones.
19. (whoops — 19, not 18.) Finally assembled the 14″ Smokey Joe grill we bought back in February. Eatin’ steak tonight, Baby!! And it’s almost ready, whoo-hoo! So to it!!
And you may NOT comment here unless you tell me at least one amazing thing you’ve done in the past 24 hours — and preferably more than one, because you my friend, are AWESOME, and made of love and light.
