The school bus
fades down the street
in third gear
as The Spammer
closes the door
in her nightgown.
(Yes — a strange place
indeed for a door.)
🙂
(Not my joke.)
The Spammer
pours more coffee
and flops back
to her laptop
wondering
if she’s more
in the mood
for waffles
or pancakes
this morning.

That was a Friday Flash Fiction in 55 words for The G-Man. Check out G-Man’s 55 Extreme Awesomeness!

And those are pix my friend took of me this morning near My Benches on the trail.
I photoshopped in the Spam later, ’cause it seemed like the thing to do.

Ass Kicking | Posted by Jannie on 5 October 2010 @ 7:15 AM

1. In additon to this “Now Playing” main page, I’d like separate blogs within this blog for…
a. “Daily Photo”
b. “Give-Aways”
c. “Ass-Kicking.”
Just kidding on the Ass-Kicking. Actually, I’m trying to mend my cussing ways, as ass is not an appropriate word for my daughter to read until she’s older. She told me so.
That’s why I haven’t used this category in a while — out of motherly guilt.
But I’m suspending the guilt just for this post.
Because after all, I am attempting to kick ass here. Well, just a little bit of kicking. 🙂

2. Also a songwriting blog-within-a-blog here, for me to post videos of new songs in progress. Would you like that?
3. Upgrade my hosting.
4. Offer free MP3s of new songs in exchange for you signing up for my FREE occasional e-mail newsletter.
5. Wonder how the hell one goes about setting up a newsletter scheme like that.
(Sounds like work!)
6. Drink more beer.

7. Have the scent of your choice waft from your computer whenever you log onto my site.
Aromas my science department and I are currently developing…
a. piney woods
b. new-mown hay
c. wild rose
d. 1960 Jaguar XK150 leather interior.
e. Gee, your hair smells terrific.
f. volcanic ash with twist of lemon
g. margaritas
h. guitar maker’s woodshop.
7. Keep blogging!
8. Keep taking photos to share with you, like ones above I took last week at a rowing dock here in Austin.
Plus, keep digging up older photos to share with you, like this one from when she was 4…

9. Keep $aving up for that good ass-kicking digital camera.
10. Keep kicking ass (in the nicest way, of course.)
🙂
Sound good?
Any other suggestions for this blog, or for additional wafting scents, feel free to share in the comments!
Thank you!!

You will sit in cafes
in Paris and Vienna
with your grandmother’s eyes,
your other grandmother’s smile
and your own funny sunny ways.

You will sit in cafes,
when you are grown,
where the dust of my

words will have settled
onto the tables and chairs
and into the deepest
libraries of your heart.
So, I must continue to
be conscious that my words
are sweet and caring.
And continue to say
“I’m sorry” when I mess up.

You will sit in cafes
and travel smilingly happy,
for you are made of love.

Love, Mom

P.S. Dear Readers, do you know of this Silly Bandz craze? Mama Z, has Baby Puppy fallen under the spell of these?

I Cursed The Farm
and the 15 miles
that stretched
forever
between it
and my dreams
of gymnastics,
ballet,
and later on,
the teen parties
I thought I’d die without.
Now…
I thank the farm
for its sweet hay
on golden hills,
for potatoes,
tomatoes,
Dad,
Mom,
my daughter
and for everyone
who lives and loves
up there and everywhere.

That was a little story in 55 words for our FFF-55 host with the most — G-Man.
Let G-Man know you’ve posted a 55 and he will skippity-hop on over to you with a big smile and some awesome words.

And one more photo of the farm I so erroneously cursed long ago…

The blog marm dispenses pencils,
some fancy with rainbows, others
plain and yellow, yet dependable.
She also makes checks in her planner
on who gets a special gold star today
and who gets a lick and a prayer.
The blog marm rings her bell after recess,
pied piping all the rosy-cheeked children
to new adventures in posts yet untraveled.
They bring her apples. And donuts. And tea.
They sit quietly at circle, wide-eyed at her tales.
They all get popsicles the last days in June!
(And there’s never homework!!)
All students are treated with equal respect,
each gets a turn beating dust from the erasers
and writing the date at the top of the board.
Don’t worry — blog marm’s ruler is not for rapping fingers,
but for measuring out yards of funsterment in the finest
of satins, silks, leathers, laces, denims, and linens
— linens as luscious as sunlight through leaves.
End of poem

Speaking of sunlight through leaves…
These 3 pix are what my iPhone 3GS recently saw somewhere near Ladybird Lake here in Austin.
