or if you are experiencing “teknickel diffikultees,” you can always

click here to see who won the “Dear Mystery Person” 7th Letter,

a winner who also gets copies of these photos…

And a life-time subscription to this blog!

Can things get any more exciting?!?

But wait — they CAN!  Jannie made good progress on songs today, Kelly likes school and Blue Bunny is ironing all Jim’s shirts!!

Now back to guitar on a new song, “Everybody’s Beautiful”

as in…

Everybody’s beautiful
Just the way we are
Everybody’s made of love
And little bits of stars
Everybody’s beautiful
Everybody shines, from the
Light we’re all created from
Brighter all the time…

A Young Ghoul Orders Salt Water Taffy — a poem

Family, House Style, The Pea | Posted by Jannie on 31 October 2010 @ 12:57 PM (38) Comments

the_ghoul_orders_taffy

A young ghoul applies her make-up

in the rear-view mirror while perched

on the centre console of Mom’s car.

ghoul_1

The young ghoul alternately mans

the Haunted House, bounces, runs,

skips, laughs and cartwheels around

with her friends for 4 hours, while

the mom, altho a freak downpour

had destroyed her fluffy hairdo

during set-up, manages to flit socially,

then enjoy her 1-hour shift at the

food table, eat a bunch of excellent

assorted homemade sugary crap,

2 pieces pepperoni pizza, 8 mini packs

of gluten-free gummy bears and one

raspberry Izze (heavenly) natural soda,

then goes home to wine, a relaxing bath

and hugs with the loving car-dealer hubs,

who actually did pop in for a while at the

carnival, as he does to all school things.

He is a very very good dad and person,

like another good dad and person I know,

who’s a very talented writer, and so witty!

And here is that Jimmy last week, laying

some pine flooring in the house entry…

which looked like this a few months ago…

a house additon he built himself.

(See the railing up the stairs now!?? Yep — Jimmy’s been a busy bee.)

(End poem of inspired by photos of Kelly last week at her school carnival, and by thoughts of her awesome dad.)

She wants to be Santa for tonight (if I can find her dress) the one she wore at age 5 in this photo…

santa_at_5

(Bought with a cute little matching hat at a post-Christmas sale for $20 when she was 4.)

Bought BIG, and has fit quite a while!

But where is it now?

Somewhere.

If she can’t be Santa tonight, there’s always her vampire plan.

[Edit.  I found the dress!  I found the dress!!  Last place I looked — with all the Chirstmas stuff!  Whoo-hoo!!!!]

So… lots more photos to come in future happy posts.

Thank you!

And a very Happy Halloween to all of you — my wonderful blogging guys and ghouls.

Politics — in 55 words

He’s to the left.
I’m to the right,
our backs bent into
the rope of our beliefs.

We are both closest
to the center line,
so close we could
hold hands. Dare we?

Dare we drop our grip?
Abandon our teams
and The Struggle,
to sit side by side
in some little cafe where
love is always waiting?

A Friday Flash Fiction 55 for the G-Man, who art in Michigan and who wilt comment if you tell him your 55 is up.

Let Us Be Good To Each Other — a poem for my friend

Friends, Poetry | Posted by Jannie on 27 October 2010 @ 1:13 AM (56) Comments

a_city_to_love

I returned home from my walk yesterday
where I’d taken these pictures, to an email

from a good blogging friend here in Austin
to read he’s dying from pancreatic cancer.

I won’t mention his name, as I’m not sure
he’d want that, but please know he’s always

been more than a good friend ever since I
first lured him into this den of funiquity.

He’s popped in here time and time again.
He bought my cd and wrote it up nicely.

His comments make me laugh and laugh.
His blog posts make me laugh too. And think.

He’s really an amazing writer, deep and witty.
More gifted than these words will ever say.

His e-mail explained why he’s been so scarce
around the blogosphere these past months.

(And I thought I’d pissed him off with my
2nd vs 5th amendment comment on his blog.)

I should’ve known something else was up.
(There but for the grace of others go I.)

love_one_another

In his email he thanked me for being kind to
him and for all my encouragement of his blog.

He told me how much he appreciated me and
wished me and my family much joy always.

People, I have never met this friend in person,
yet you see how deeply he has touched my heart.

I know now why I snapped these 3 pix yesterday
on a spot of the trail I find especially magical.

They were meant for him somehow, for his love
of this city he has lived in so long, for his love

of Texas, family, history, life, laughter, writing.
For the blessing of him and his friendship to me.

I will leave you with some of the words I replied
to his e-mail with … “I will raise my glass and

my eyes and my heart to you and the stars and
to friendship always when I think of your spirit.”

Friends, let us love one another. Deeply and always.
Let us put any differences aside and let love reign.

Love Jannie

Woman Wiggles Pinkie Toes While Singing Duet With Blue Bunny & Getting Kitteh Loves

Rooftop Yodeling, Videos | Posted by Jannie on 25 October 2010 @ 2:14 PM (40) Comments

Hay, that was Blue Bunny singing the higher “Texas,” and the whole last part! He’s got a great range, eh?!

Can you wiggle your pinkie toes independently of your others?

And if so, will you post a video of it on your blog?

🙂

In other news…

I’ll do the drawing for the The Seventh Letter winner on video soon (when my hair looks fluffy and fun) and let you know this weekend who gets That Fabulous Prize.

Also on my list…

— Blog reading
— “Do You Dream” verse 3 lyrics
— “Drink Up The Stars” guitar
— lots of other stuff.
