My lucky blue hat. My lucky blue hat.
I feared I might have lost it.
But I found it on the dryer yesterday.
So glad me or nobody’d tossed it.
I bought it maybe 12 years ago.
Can’t remember what it costed.
Probably about $19.99, which at
50 cents each, would buy me 39.98
delicious (untaxed) donuts, frosted.
Well, holy cow! It’s Friday.
And that deep offering is a Friday Flash Fiction in 55 words.
For whom?
For YOUM — Mr G-Man!
FFF55s are FUN!! Post one and G-Man will pop over and comment and book, (whatever book means.)
Please note — NO FFF55 next week.
xoxo

I hate saying the word hate.
But I already have 3 times
since I started this post.
(4 times now, with that photo.)
Kelly says, “I hate this game.”
“I hate this cheese.” “I hate that team.”
“I hate you,” the latter last evening.
(I lost my patience and yelled at her,
so she was probably justified in that.
Both forgiven now. Today all new.)
Forgiveness is the ultimate love.
(Be sure to forgive yourself.)
Some people who were not held
sweetly as babies set up web pages
for the sake of hate against others.
Others say snide things about people
on their blogs because they are fearful,
and being mean often gets them a laugh.
(And I thought this LoveBeatsHate thing
would be hard to write about, but look at me
finding words here in this luuuv “hotseat.”)
Love seat?
🙂
The swing above was
a loveseat Kelly, Peach
and I shared in March 2002
in North Carolina.
Love is good.
I choose love.
Love is something you do.
Love is reigning.
Love (not Coke,) is it.
“When we judge we leave no room for love.” — Mother Theresa.
Love is in me.
Love is in you.
Love IS me.
Love IS you.
“Love power
It rules us
takes over
and shoes us.”)
(I don’t think
that last line
is correct, but
it does make
sense to me)
because
My Wonderful Friend, Suzie, the sunshine gal in this pic (at Kelly’s 5th birtday party,)

recently gave me a pair of black ALL-leather Kenneth Cole shoes, ones her mother bought for her at a yard sale in Texarcana, but were a little too small for Suzie.
Whoo-hoooo!!

Love is the way to go.
Love is a gift you give yourself.
How will YOU choose love today?

So, I’m out of my songwriting woodshed — whooo-hooo!!
It was good, tho. Got my guitar callouses thickened up.
Got more words tucked into my melodies.
Got some logs split.
I’ve not yet sprinted up my tree to pick the poetry book winners, but I will, and post the video early next week.
But enough about me!

You know that kid I mention here once in a while?
Even show pictures of her?
The one who dressed herself as Santa this Halloween, and her doll as an elf?

She and I play a lot of “Guess What I’m Thinking,” like 20 Questions. Only we allow 100 questions.
And give lots of hints. At least I give hints. Her? Not so much.
Yesterday, after she said making her guess ‘policeman’ was “too specific,” and I said “what’s wrong with being specific in the game,” she came up with a few specifics of her own…

Needless to say, Jannie did not guess any correctly. Jannie gave up well before 100 questions.
Jannie headed back to the woodshed with some beer.
And some chocolate cake.
I think those last two are my faves…
— a purplish-pink door that survived a white tornado in Sudan in 1973 but was later destroyed by a fleet of angry bees.
— a greenish-purple 586 legged possum with glasses and a mustache eating pistachio ketchup ice cream in the White House on 10/25/3058.

And you were probably thinking I was the eccentric one in the family?
You know she’s got me topped.
Oh yeah, waaay topped.
That’s my girl!
xoxo
P.S. The hat Kirsten (the doll) is wearing is the one that came with Kelly’s dress.

To my five modern poetry books wherever love shall find you — a poem

They might think I’m dropping you
in a basket on the orphanage steps
or casting you off like some old
pants with a big rip in the arse.
So, I’m telling them how ruffling your pages is
like ruffling my child’s hair on a morning walk.
How the sweetness of my time with you
I’ll always remember like the afternoons
Grammy let me shake the warm donuts
in a brown paper lunch bag full of sugar.
Poetry books, they might
think I do not love you.
But it is because I love you I am about
to sail you and mail you to new homes
where new hearts and new shelves will
dance with you in ways I can’t imagine.
Yes, friends, this is a give-away post.
Leave a comment for a chance of me
drawing your comment number from
my pink John Deere wine-drinking hat.
(If you don’t want a poetry book, but
just want to say hello, let me know
and I won’t count your comment.)
(Giveaway offer open World Wide.)
No skill-testing question involved.
No need to tell me how much you love me.
(Tho I never mind hearing you do.)
No need to tell me what you ate for breakfast.
(Tho I am curious as to what you scarfed down.)
I had some Annie’s mac-n-cheese. And coffee.
Next week I’ll climb up my tree — even higher
than last time, to pick you five lucky winners.

So, that’s it!
With love, from Jannie
xoxo
P.S.
The next few days I will be in the
wood-shed working on songs, and
I may not even be posting a 55.
I know, a shocker. Sorry, G-man.
But… I’m sure I’ll be emerging
once in a while to refresh myself
in the tasty wine of your blogs,
put up new sidebar buttons and
add to BB’s Thanksgiving Feast.
OH — FORGOT TO MENTION — YOU ARE ALL ALWAYS WINNERS TO ME, OF COURSE!!
Poetry, Sidebar Buttons | Posted by Jannie on 4 November 2010 @ 10:55 AM

each new one can’t
stay up top forever.
Yet, each friend
stays top in my heart.
And whenever
someone smiles
or holds a door open
or says a kind word
they grace the top
of love’s sidebar.
Yep, corny as
An Ishtar Song, that
last bit, but true.
🙂

That was a Friday Flash Fiction in 55 words for The G-Man.
Except I can’t wait ’til my usual 5:55 to post this, so here you go!
It’s never too early for luuuuv. 10:55 a.m. now.
(At least I got a 55 in there!) 🙂

P.S. Edit…
I have so far made about 60 buttons — and I have about 150 friends, so please be patient until your button appears!
All buttons end up permanently linked in a post like this, then go up here, a page I’ll eventually organize into attractive archives, as the code grows and grows.
