Rooftop Yodeling | Posted by Jannie on 20 February 2011 @ 3:19 PM
A lady out walking her hounds yesterday
did spot quite a treat on the ground where it lay.
The red crazy straw — tho in beat-up condition
to some of her things makes a stunning addition.
her roses,
her toeses,
her hound,
her guitar,
— look how utterly enhanced they now are.
See how the straw sets off a picture.
See it enhance her dining room fixture.
Just how lucky can one human be —
To have such a treasure for eternity?
~~ THE END ~~
You ever find any such awesome treasure on the side of the road?
And thanks all for your well wishes on my whiney last post, when I was feeling sick.
I’m feeling “almost normal” today. 🙂 And I hope you are too!

The Great Jannie who never gets sick is sick.
Rats.
Achy.
Sore eyes.
Sore throat.
Sore head.
Congestion.
But on the brighter side, the cuts in Jannie’s fingertips from the tree branch run-ins are healing up nicely!
Above is a nice sky photo Kelly took last fall.
Jannie did soothe herself with her blue guitar today.
And Jannie does not have any broken bones, gushing wounds or toothaches, whooohooo.
Day at the beach, really!
Poor little baby Jannie will be resting up for the next couple days. Please wish her peace and happy dreams.
And give yourself a hug from Jannie.

It was Valentines’ Day.
She was nine years old.
She had a present from her mom to open.
What-oh-what could it be?
Napkins?
That’s weird.
It felt warm.
Probably ’cause it was 75 degrees in Austin, Texas.
Ooooo, shiny.
Shiny is good.
And it’s a……
it’s a…..
CHEESEBURGER!!!
“Moooooooooooommmm.”
But look — a card.
And cash! Wow, a whole two bucks!!
Now she could get some fries too!!!
Hmmmn….. the burger actually looked pretty good.
And she WAS hungry after a long day at school.
Tasty!!
But wait, the mom was going to blog this, right?!
Yep!
“Mooooooooooommmm.”
Anybody read that book? I did in high school but forget what it’s about.
Nowto hit publish, see what’s for lunch, play my blue guitar and sing.
Then bloghop at the library, where the computers are so fast!
Whoooo-hooooo.

Flash Fiction 55, Poetry | Posted by Jannie on 11 February 2011 @ 10:36 AM
Yesterday in the bathtub I sat singing
Coldplay’s “Yellow.” Such a pretty song.
Later, in my blue chiffon I combed
the forest for something cheery for you
— a daffodil shock maybe, or a single lemon,
but came up short — until I remembered
the yellow guitar lesson, the spaghetti thing,
and that I always already have what I need.
Just a little fiction in 55 words for THE G-Man.

it’s Jimmy’s birthday.
He’s the awesome guy I married.
He built that closet.
I think the centerpieces look real nice around it.
Too bad they’ll all be whisked away Saturday to the grand gala.
Oh well, we may buy 1 or 2 of the 30. Plus, I can always make more. I still have plenty of the fixins.
Kelly customized her ornaments. Pretty cute, eh?
But back to the honoree of this post — the guy who built this room in his spare time…
He’s built quite a few rooms here in his spare time.
And remodeled all the others.
Now we’re remodeling the remodel!
Jim’s like, way, waaaay awesome, in case I never mentioned that.
Quite the drywaller, trimmer. And conversationalist too.
Also a person of EXTREME cuteness, as you can easily see.
Pretty decent framer…
Now…
Some of you might exclaim, “Ahhhh, Jannie’s so awesome to make her birthday boy such a special post.”
But the the truth is, Jimmy is the awesomer of the two of us, in oh so many ways.
And always will be.
Happy Birthday, Jimmy.
Love, Jannie
