Here are a few photos I took this past weekend on Kelly’s semi-annual school camping trip. (I took over 100. Only subjecting you to 14.) (Today.) 🙂 (edit: I took over 100 photos — not 100 kids, as per funny/smart Hilary‘s amused observation.) At least that’s what I think she meant by “100 little wonders.”) ? 🙂
The next one I call Sunday Morning Bleary. Kelly had about 3 hours sleep Saturday night. And maybe 6 hours Friday. ‘Twas a wild and wonderful time for all.
Camp sweet home. My tent!
Kelly has her own little tent she shares with a friend or two.
She does show up for food and drink occasionally at my site. 🙂
Notice the half-gallon of hand sanitizer on my table. I told you I’m OCD with that stuff, right?
Jim never stays for the night (boo-hoo) but he does come for the Saturday potluck dinner followed by the sing-along — so that’s better than nothing!
My favorite part of camping — the coffee bacon mornings! Pancakes too! ‘Cept I didn’t photograph the pancakes. 🙂
But I did photograph Kelly up a tree Friday night!
(Don’t worry, don’t worry — all the kids climb that. She just happened to be the only one up there at the moment.)
Okay so, just when you thought you’d seen it all — I tell you a river is about a 3-minute walk down the path from the tenting area.
And I show you yet more pics — of river stuff.
A second edit: because I can, and because there were no words between these two pictures… 🙂
The nights were cold, maybe around 45-50?F (9C) and the days were about 78F (24C.)
There, all better with this post now. 🙂
On you go!
But wait! There were no words between these pix either!
Ahh, much better now.
And more words here. The water was about 55F (12C) Brrrrr!!
Yes — someone took a picture of ME too! I did!! A little shadow dancing with myself.
Anyhoo, Jim has bought a tiramisu cake from Whole Foods! And I think I shall post this and go see if I can offer him any assistance with the window he’s putting in. Then get Miss Sweetie Camper off the computer and into the bath. And to an early bed. Oh yeah. School again tomorrow!
Toodles, sweeties!
(Look, my shoe!)
Off I go.
xoxo
🙂
(Yes, all these are iPhone pix, in case any of your enquiring minds were wondering.)
Another little edit: What’s nice about this school trip is the parents bring their kids, so it’s not like I was in a chaperone situation over a bunch of kids. A real family outing!
And I did drink 3 beers. Well, 2.75 total. I petered out on my Friday night one. But made up for it Saturday with those two whole Sierra Nevada Pale Ales! And had a couple ounces of wine that night too. DECADENT JANNIE!! 🙂
We went to our first one on Sunday and it was a total blast!
All those “way-before-quadrophonic” [Jimmy Buffet “You Had To Be There” ] 😉 Lords and Ladies leaping and laughing through the lilies with lances and such.
Wizards and wenches. Robin Hood saving the day.
Lots of men in tights! (Like the one in the background in the top photo!)
But the best part was by far — Kalyani Creations!!!!!
Remember Kalyani — my fuzzy pants-conjuring friend who sang back-up for me in these videos?
Yeah, that’s her, the gorgeous brunette. (The taller gorgeous brunette.) 🙂 The smaller gorgeous brunette is one of Kelly’s best friends, Erika.
Kalyani is peddling her fine fuzzy wares for the next 3 weekends at our first annual Sherwood Forest Renaissance Festival! She’s got razzle-dazzles of cute fuzzy apparel for guys, gals and kiddos. Pants, tube-tops, hats, skirts, tails. And more!
The faire is just 30 minutes east of Austin on Hwy 290, heading towards Houston. (A bit past Elgin.)
February 27th through April 4th, 2010 (six weekends)
Cash, credit, debit, and pieces of eight accepted.
Ale and food aplenty!
Super-super fun for ALL ages!
Merry minstrel men and maiden musicians abound!!
There is also Rousting & Jousting…
and this kind of stuff….
(The ride is cool — not run by electricity, but by brute man power!)
Kalyani Creations!!!
Check out Kalyani’s etsy store. She is happy to create custom wonders and send them winging across the world.
Congrats, Kalyani!! Talk about dreams in action. You are so making this happen, Woman!!! I love you sooooo much!!!!!
So, if you’re going to Sherwood Forest…. be sure to get some fuzzies for your hair. And body!
And is Ryan looking like a cute little bear-man — or what — in those pants!? Remember Ryan — our piano player??
Sweet Peeps, I am off to pour some wine!
I don’t have to pick Kelly up from gymnastics camp on this final day, because The Other Mom (Erika’s mom, actually) is getting her, whoo-hoo!!!!!!! I mean WHOO-HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And with wine in hand, shall I now FINALLY immerse my thirstly soul in the wine of your blogs. First time in 4 days. Well, except for Katie’s The Levity Project Car Dancing Video, of course. THAT, I HAD to check in on. You Will LOVE that video!
Deep Songwriting Week went very well! I am blessed beyond compare.
I still have zero clue most of the time
what I’m doing on Twitter, so please
forgive my unknowing ways and wish
me roses and rhubarb and to never
get my Internet service chopped off.
And please come over to our house, so
I can grill you a steak how you like it!
Unless you’re vegetarian or vegan, in
which case I’ll whip you up my famous
tofu-almond-squash surprise, served
with herbed-roasted red potatoes and
salad. And as much wine as you want!
Just don’t puke on the carpet. But even
if you do, I’ll still love you more than I
love two cold beers on a hot Texas night.
— end of poem
Now that I’ve got that out of my system…
Dudes! Remember when I wanted a Chris Edgar “Inner Productivity” book, and for my friend to have one toe? Well, I did buy me one of Chris’ AMAZING books, and another for my friend who so far has blessedly kept all her toes. And fingers! (She did lose her head once, tho. But haven’t we all?)
I’m offering a third copy of “Inner Productivity” on give-away here today. So, who wants it? And why? Persuade me in a comment below!
“Inner Productivity, A Mindful Path To Efficiency And Enjoyment In Your Work.”
Item number 2 on give-away today… “Twitter For Dummies.” Who wants it today? And why?
Speaking of poetry, here is another item on offer today. Who wants Billy Collins’ “Questions About Angels?” And why?
And don’t worry! I still have 5 more Billy Collins from my personal book collection to offer this week too — so, please don’t give up commenting to win them! Many of your comments will touch me, but alas I can pick only one person per gift.
And the final item I’ll be giving a persuasive commenter today — my “I Need A Man” cd!
I still have 5 more of my cds to give away here this week, too — THREE of them on Friday, so — please, please keep commenting as to why you’d like to give my songs a home, and a cd may soon be yours!! )
Okie-dokie.
Hope you guys will have a great day. I know I will, deep in Songwriting Zone, weaving and breathing all those snippets of tunes into complete ones.
Late autumn benches, Austin Hike ‘N Bike Trail 2009.
A friend’s 1936 Ford, last November.
They loved me until they realized I didn’t have food.
And that earth-shattering poll (now slightly edited from its originally published form) for me and Blue Bunny to improve your Funsterment blogging experience….
