Flash Fiction 55, Friends | Posted by Jannie on 25 February 2011 @ 5:55 AM 40 Comments

45 new buttons in this latest recap batch

45 sweet blessings I went fishing to catch.

Some blogging buddies closer than ever

some not quite as close as before.

Dear Wade Porter now gone on beyond

to shine on a different shore,

Wade up there laughing

with Mantle and Mays,

and catching pop flies

in the sunshiney days.

55 words for our G-Man from Jannie

with love to all.

As timing and life circumstance ended up unfolding,

I did not meet up with Austin blogger Wade Porter*

in person before he died a few weeks ago from cancer.

Luckily —  his love, laughter, light and lesson live on.

Yesterday in the bathtub I sat singing

Coldplay’s “Yellow.” Such a pretty song.

Later, in my blue chiffon I combed

the forest for something cheery for you

— a daffodil shock maybe, or a single lemon,

but came up short — until I remembered

the yellow guitar lesson, the spaghetti thing,

and that I always already have what I need.

Not the best lighting
and the iPhone’s so-so.

But never to worry,
I’ll glow with the flow.

And don’t worry, don’t worry — the decorating / centerpiece transporting posse is coming over tomorrow.

Now, I believe I have some stones to gather, rinse and hang out to dry…

Well this is highly suspicious.
She never feeds me outside.
Is this even REAL food?

Yep. It’s Friskies!

Cat_eats_friskies

Wait, I bet she’s got me in natural lighting
so her iPhone will take a good shot of me
with the SAME cup from when I was
7 weeks old — almost 4 years ago!

kitty_7_weeks_old

Well, ain’t that sweet!?
And ain’t I (still) cute!?

Your Deepest Desire

Flash Fiction 55, The Pea | Posted by Jannie on 25 January 2011 @ 2:38 PM 30 Comments

I_want_A_Kitten_790

When you were four your deepest desire was a kitten.

Boy, did you want that little kitty above! Remember!?  But he belonged to someone else.

Wasn’t it great when you got Kit-Kat the next year!?

Kitty_Kelly_july_2006_790

He’s still an awesome cat! He and you growed real good.

Then your deepest desire became a baby sister, which didn’t happen. Sorry.

(Supermarket check-out baby you wanted! Her mom wasn’t quite ready to give her away.)

wow_mom_look_what_I_found_2006

I hope you’ll have bunches and bunches of kids of your own some day.

Being Grannie Jannie will be a great gig, I’m sure. The best.

NOW… your deepest desire is to be an actress.

And I say “Why not?! ”

Why the heck not, Kelly?  Go for it.  Your dad and I will be there with you every step of the way.

(She made that little commercial up on the spot herself.)

(The clip is one I think we could use as part of an audtion tape to be submitted before an agent will even consider looking at her.)

What do y’all think of this child acting business?

Any advice for a possible future “stage mom?”
